23-year old man rushed to Hamilton hospital after a single-car collision.

Brantford Police, fire and ambulance services were dispatched to an overnight car crash early Sunday morning, on River Road, just south of Marlene Avenue, in Eagle Place.

Police tell BRANT dot one, that a silver SUV, traveling south on River Road, lost control, crossed into the north-bound lane, struck a hydro pole, and stopped after slamming into a tree.

The sole occupant, a twenty-three year old male, was rushed to a Hamilton hospital in critical condition, with life-threatening injuries.

A neighbour, who didn’t wish to appear on camera, told BRANT dot one that it’s normal for cars to speed along that stretch of River Road, even though the posted speed limit is 40 kilometers an hour.

Brantford Power crews had to be called out, because multiple homes lost power after hydro lines fell down, when the car collided with the pole.

Hydro crews tell BRANT dot one, that power is expected to be restored to all homes in the area, by noon today.

River Road was closed to through traffic, as a result of the crash, for almost twelve hours.
