86-Year-Old Brantford Woman Gets Big Lottery Win

BRANTFORD – A Brantford senior is $100,000 richer after winning a LOTTO 6/49 Super Draw.

Elizabeth Hardwicke purchased her winning ticket for the February 15th draw at Shoppers Drug Mart on Lynden Road in Brantford.

The 86-year-old retired office supervisor says she went to the grocery store to check her lottery tickets. “I saw the words Big Winner when I scanned my LOTTO 6/49 ticket,” says Hardwicke. “But my LOTTO MAX ticket wasn’t a winner, so I tore it up. I quietly put the winning ticket in my bag and made my way home. I was worried the whole time that I tore up the wrong ticket.”

Hardwicke says she plans to open a tax-free savings account. “Some will go to family, but it’s a good feeling to know I can afford more care if I need it,” she explains.

The LOTTO 6/49 Super Draw offered 10 Guaranteed Prize Draws of $100,000 in addition to the main jackpot and the Guaranteed $1 Million Prize Draw.
