BRANTFORD – During the Brant County Health Unit’s weekly media briefing, the Acting Medical Officer of Health provided an update on COVID-19 cases affecting area workplaces.
Dr. Elizabeth Urbantke, says the area’s latest cases of COVID-19 were reported at two different workplaces. A positive COVID-19 test result was declared for an employee who worked at both the Ferrero plant in Brantford and the Adidas Warehouse in Brant. On Sunday, a second employee at Lowe’s Brantford location also tested positive.
Dr. Urbantke says our community should be proud of reaching Stage 3 of re-opening, however now more than ever, we need to be vigilant of public health recommendations.
“With many previously closed businesses and services re-opening, there can be a tendency to think we can all just simply go back to our previous way of doing things,” says Dr. Urbanke. “This is most definitely not the case. With even more businesses and services set to open on Friday, physical distancing, face coverings, and frequent hand washing become even more important to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
