St. George is hosting one of Ontario’s top festivals this weekend. Applefest has been listed in the top 100 festivals in Ontario. The event is also a winner of the 2018 Good Times in Brant Award.
2019 marks the 35th anniversary for Applefest and it continues to grow. This year, the main street of the village will become a farmer’s market.
Applefest Committee Member, Linda Howell says they’re also looking to get more crafters in every year, but now there’s still something that meets everyone’s needs including a children’s area with pony rides and entertainment.
“There’s the main stage which runs all day with a lot of entertainment and music. There’s even a spirit garden to relax and have a beverage. There’s all kinds of food vendors as well.Linda Howell, Applefest Committee Member
Festival events encompass the entire community including Lily Park, Snowball Park, Main Street and part of High Street.
Of course, the festival will also have many opportunities to enjoy the main attraction…apples.
“There will be the apple donuts, apple dumplings and apple fritters… apple pies are being done by the church ladies on Saturday. There’s a good variety of a lot of things!”Linda Howell, Applefest Committee Member
The biggest event taking place over the weekend is a free street party taking place Saturday night from 6pm – 10pm.
