Hundreds of people chanting “Black Lives Matter” descended to downtown Brantford over the noon hour on Thursday to take part in a rally.
The peaceful protest began in Harmony Square, followed by a march around Victoria Park to city hall and back to Harmony Square.
Event organizer, Raven Fraley Brown, says he decided to arrange the solidarity march for Black Lives Matters to let Americans and Minneapolis know that the residents of Brantford care.
Brantford’s rally follows a week of protests across the United States, as well as globally, after the death of George Floyd. Floyd was an unarmed black man killed while being arrested by Minneapolis Police.
