BRANT COUNTY – The County of Brant will proceed to recognize Pride Month in the community with a Virtual Flag Raising Ceremony this year as gathering together is not possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The online celebration will take place on Monday, June 8th at 11 AM.
Brant marked its first year recognizing Pride Month in 2019 with a Flag Raising Ceremony at the county’s office downtown Paris.
The month of June is recognized worldwide, with LGBTQ communities coming together to celebrate the freedom to be themselves.
The original Pride organizers chose this month to pay homage to the Stonewall uprising in June 1969 in New York City, which helped spark the modern gay rights movement.
Pride festivities in the City of Brantford have been canceled this year due to the COVID-19 crisis.
