Double Homicide Suspect Found Dead in Brantford Hotel Room

The provinces Special Investigation Unit is investigating after a 35 year old Hamilton man, wanted in a weekend double homicide, died after being located at a Brantford hotel room.

David Thomson was wanted on two counts of murder following a double homicide inside a townhouse on the Central Mountain, Hamilton Saturday. The homicide victims, 62 year old, Donald Lowe and 32 year old, Cheryl Nicholl, were found shot.

Early Monday morning, Hamilton Police confirmed the suspect was staying at the Days Inn on Fairview Drive in Brantford. Both Brantford and Hamilton police were at the scene and secured the area of the hotel.

“While officers were outside the hotel, a gunshot was heard coming from inside a room on the first floor. Officers entered the room where they located Mr. Thomson, deceased, from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.”

In an earlier statement released during the search for the suspect, Hamilton Police noted Thomson to be considered armed and dangerous.

The SIU has not released any further information surrounding Thomson’s death, but confirm a post-mortem will take place Tuesday in Hamilton.

Hamilton Police can confirm they are not seeking any further suspects in relation to the double homicide.
