BRANTFORD -It was an exciting day for families in Brantford’s Eagle Place community as the city officially opened a brand new splash pad in Tutela Park.
Groundbreaking for the new splash pad took place in May. Local dignitaries and members of the Eagle Place Community Association held a celebration to officially open the new amenity the end of August.
President of the Eagle Place Community Association, Mandy Samwell says planning and fundraising for the splash pad began in 2017 when Brantford City Council approved the support of a community-based effort to raise funds towards its construction.
Honorary Chair of the Fundraising Committee, Dave Levac says the project became a reality all thanks to the generosity of several donors, an investment provided by the city, the Eagle Place Community Association, and the volunteers on the fundraising committee.
Features of the new splash pad include a variety of ground bubblers, multiple ground sprays, and an overhead bucket. The design itself is inspired by the winding grand river that flows through the Eagle Place neighbourhood.
