Ontario Premier Kicks off Firefighter Convention in Brant County

Ontario Premier, Doug Ford, was in Brant County Monday to kick off the 120th Anniversary of the Firefighters Association of Ontario celebration. Approximately 300 firefighters from across the province are in Paris for training, an annual meeting and celebrations this week. Captain Mark Robinson, County of Brant Paris Fire Station, says they were honoured to have the Premier and Solicitor General, Sylvia Jones, attend the opening ceremonies.

“Their attendance recognizes the importance of this event and the Firefighters who volunteer in their rural communities to protect the lives of others.”

There are also a number of events taking place during the week the public is invited to join, including a Craft and Vendor show at the Paris Agricultural Society. Activities at that event will include a number of firefighter themed games, competitions and participation for children.

In addition, the Fire Fighters Association of Ontario Memorial Parade takes place on Sunday, August 4th. The parade honours the Firefighters who have lost their life in the past year and begins at 9:00AM downtown Paris.
