On Wednesday, June 26, at approximately 12:46 a.m., the OPP and the Norfolk Fire Department responded to a fire call at a Hastings Drive, Long Point address.
Someone had used an accelerant to light the outside wall of the house on fire.
The owner of the home was inside sleeping when he awoke to a fire and fled from the residence and immediately contacted 9-1-1.
The owner then grabbed buckets of water and was able to extinguish the flames however damage is estimated at approximately $35,000.
The OPP Norfolk County Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public.
