Police reminding students beaches are closed, despite annual first Friday in June tradition

While the first Friday of June each year has traditionally been declared ‘Beach Day’ by area students, Norfolk County OPP is reminding everyone lakeside sands remain off-limits due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Police, as well as By-Law Officers and Park Wardens, will be patrolling beaches in the county for the day and are asking everyone to respect the closures.

OPP also reminds students and all residents, the province continues to limit gatherings to no more than five unrelated people.
