Slight Rise in COVID-19 Cases in Haldimand-Norfolk, Brant Remains Unchanged

The Brant County Health Unit’s total number of positive COVID-19 test results remains unchanged at 120, after recording no new cases on Friday. The number of patients recovered is 110, and six are recovering at home.


The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit recorded twelve new cases of the novel coronavirus Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 430, including 174 recoveries and 31 deaths.

Ontario is reporting fewer than 200 new cases of COVID-19 for the sixth day in a row. The latest data from the Ministry of Health indicates that were 178 new cases of the virus. The number of active cases also continued to decline and now stands at 2,281 after 246 more existing cases were marked as “recovered” in the province’s database.

For the first time since 1840, the Norfolk County Fair in Simcoe has been cancelled. The Norfolk Agricultural Society states it is with great sadness they announce the popular event will not move forward as planned.

The organization says the safety and well-being of the community, volunteers, exhibitors, partners, and fair patrons always comes first, and the decision was made out of an abundance of caution for all.

The Norfolk County Fair is one of the major exhibitions on the rural fair circuit in Ontario to joins a growing list of cancellations this year due to the pandemic emergency. Others include the CNE and the Paris Fair.
