SPCA Program Pairs Seniors with Companions

The Brant County SPCA has introduced a program aimed at solving an adoption and care challenge. The Seniors for Seniors Program pairs those 65 years of age or older with senior pets, cats or dogs that are 8 years or older.

“Sometimes the senior animals in our care can be a little bit harder to adopt out so this program is a win-win.”

Logan White, Community Engagement Coordinator

Brant SPCA Community Engagement Coordinator, Logan White says, older animals can be great companions as they are already house trained and very relaxed.

However, White adds, they may also come with health issues. The SPCA offers help and support for those willing to foster a pet in that situation, including covering costs for veterinary visits, medications and food.
