Three Arrests Following Grand Street Standoff

Brantford Police have made three arrests following the standoff on Grand Street last Friday.

Police say, two search warrants were executed at the residence. A total of eight people from the residence were detained during the investigation and three of those were arrested on outstanding warrants.

The day long investigation involved four Brantford Police units: Emergency Response Team; K-9; Task Force; and the Major Crime Unit. The OPP also assisted.

Heavily armed police and armoured vehicles on Grand Street in Brantford on Friday, October 18th.

The standoff lasted approximately eight hours and ended without incident. As a precaution, however, the surrounding neighborhood was closed, as well as Graham Bell Victoria School and Grandview School.

The investigation began on Friday morning at approximately 7:00AM when police were led to the Grand Street residence in response to information about an individual with a suspected firearm. Police report that no firearm was located as a result of the search warrants.
